Big Things in Music, Film, TV & More

SESAC Showcase . . . D. Woods Interview . . . Big Things Happening with Georgia Entertainment Association . . . Launch of IndieICONS coming soon . . . Life has never been more hectic.  And I'm loving it!

Let's see where to begin:

Music
I am officially starting work on my new mixtape at the beginning of July.  In the last few weeks I ended up co-writing a few songs (one with Musiq Soulchild) for Meelah (of 702 fame). Collabing with the legendary producer She'kspere (Destiny's Child, TLC), Yung Popp and the whole fam at the studio is so much fun, I don't even mind the late nights!! Ludacris randomly walked in one night while we were watching the NBA finals.  Shouts out to all the fabulous musicians I have been able to play with/listen to over the past few weeks, including Rahbi, Chris Harris, Alvin Cornbread Garrett, Cameron Sankey, list goes on. And headed next into the studio with the legendary Manuel Seal Jr. (Mariah Carey, Jermaine Dupri) - crazy!!

Happy to welcome new artists to the DollStreet Music Family: The ERAera and Dirty Rose!  Will be posting links and videos so you can check them out.

Film
I have a few different projects in the works and will be making some things happen in the second half of the year . . . can't say too much yet so just stay tuned.

TV
Started a new production company and have almost 10 shows in some stage of development and pre-production.  I am so excited.  Can't wait to start talking to the networks.

Magazines
Happy to welcome Boss Lady Magazine to the family!  Just finished an interview this week with D. Woods and photo shoot coming soon.  Big things happening for Boss Lady!

Books
A few titles coming down the pipeline second half of this year.  It's going to be great!  Cannot wait.  Inspired by my people Tyrese (check out his new book) and genius motivator Simon Bailey (www.simontbailey.com) to get mine finished and out into the world.  Coming soon . . .

Etc.
Check out a preview of IndieICONS - the PREMIERE site for independent artists and entertainment entrepreneurs who are tired of the *ish of the industry and ready to shine and thrive beyond WANNA-BE status.  Check out the revolution and see what celebs are involved.

All that I do is powered, of course, by Elizabeth Anthony Entertainment Group, my company and my legacy. Visit the website and be amazed.

That's what's going on inside my diamond mind.  Let me know what's on yours.

L.A. and Philly got DolllhouseROCKED

Great shows in Philly and L.A. over the last two weeks! I miss being at home but I am really excited about what is coming up. Let's see if I can recap just a bit.

Hollywood was beautiful weather of course and I had a lot on the schedule in a short time including a scheduled appearance at Donald Sutherland's Walk of Fame Ceremony; then barely had time to walk around before it was time to get ready for the show at The Cat Club on Sunset.  I was so sad that my band could not make it to the show, but I met a lot of great people including some of the cool judges: Anne Preven (Academy Award-nominated songwriter - "Listen" from DreamGirls), Tom Morello (guitarist - Rage, Against the Machine), C-Aye Purcell (producer - Jodeci, Kirk Franklin), and DA Wallach (band Chester French).

Unfortunately, I somehow lost the video footage from the L.A. show!!  I don't know what happened; but fortunately we will be back in LA soon with the full band to capture the experience.

This most recent trip to Philly has been great fun. Working with a group of talented artists is one of the best experiences possible for a creative person like me, and this Philly collective I am working with is simply amazing.  Mario Crew - producer and drummer (Natalie of Floetry, Kindred Family), David Stevens - guitarist and producer (Lisa McClendon, Marvin Winans Jr.), B. Ware (George Clinton) and Android Plus artists La'Shia, Alexis GoldenLover, Nila D.,  and the Carnival Kings . . . all of them are amazing, energetic, and super talented.  I am looking forward to having my team at DollStreet Music help put these artists on bigger platforms so that more folks can experience the greatness.

Truly had a great show last night (on South  Street in Philadelphia) and my concept for the band (Dollhouse Rock) is beginning to come together like I wanted it to. By the time the tour gets going in late March, I will have this show looking and sounding just like I want it.

I'm wearing a lot of hats these days (CEO, Artist, Author, Actress and the list goes on) and it can be challenging to play all of the different roles.  But I LOVE what I do every day and I wouldn't have it any other way..  I will be posting more updates and insights about my company and all of the things we have going on.  2011 is going to be a very big year.

A final thought: **No matter what obstacles you face, never ever let anything block you from pursuing your dreams.  You only get one life and TRUST that you will regret it if you reach the end of it and haven't made your best effort to pursue greatness. GO HARD, make memories, and keep moving forward.**

That's a thought from my Diamond Mind.  Let me know what's on yours . . . .

Doll headed to Philly, L.A., London . . .

25-city radio and media tour, plus Philly, L.A., London all coming in the next three months!!  Things are getting hectic and I am doing all of this with my team as an independent label.  Don't tell me it can't be done! People will support real music when you make it available.  I love my fans!!  Because of them, plus my fabulous team (partners Condia-Vetta Prestige Entertainment and DigiBoogie International), nothing is out of reach.  I am going worldwide baby!! MAJOR impact WITHOUT A MAJOR LABEL.  Believe that.

So, where do I start? I was just selected for one of the 5 exclusive performance slots at the Harvard ROCKS Music Showcase in Los Angeles on January 27, 2011.  That is the day before my album release party in Beverly Hills on Jan. 28.  I will be on stage in front of world famous songwriters, producers, and record executives. I mean literally the best in the world.  I really need for all of my L.A. people (and everyone who was planning to travel out for the album release party) to come on Jan. 27 and support me!  I will give you the time and place details soon . . .

This weekend, I am headed to Knoxville, TN for a show and a live radio interview on WUTK 90.3 FM.  I am looking forward to the show at Ray's.  If you happen to be nearby, come holla at me!  9pm, December 3.

********************Bring the Music Back
Here's an artist you really should know: Bashiyra from the U.K. is a singer/songwriter witrh a vibe that will remind you of Sade.  She is an award-winning artist, and she is the only guest-starring musician on my reality show for Season 1!  Bashiyra will be headed to the States in February to hang out and do a show with me while finishing the recording of her second studio album with legendary producer Herb Middleton (Mary J. Blige, Bobby Brown, Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Al Green).  Then in March, Bashiyra will host me in the U.K. and we'll do another show!  Bashiyra and I met on the set of the Mo'Nique Show and she is truly a great artist.  http://www.bashiyra.com
********************

So much else is happening . .  that it's hard to tell it all.  But stay tuned!  Always more to come.

My thought for today: Be faithful in the thing that you know you MUST do.  Everything you need will then find its way to you.

That's a bit from my Diamond Mind.  Tell me what's on yours . . .

Peace from The Dollhouse.

Doll is Goin Back to Cali; Looking for an Angel

It is countdown to 2011 . . . I'm headed to Los Angeles in January for a few BIG events. It's time to take this dream to a nationwide audience, and L.A. is the first stop. Why? Because for one thing, it is the city of dreams (wait, is that New York?) but most importantly for me, because that's where my parents lived and recorded with gospel greats (and my dad had a gospel record store and a radio show) in the years before I was born. It is the place I heard them tell stories about when they talked about what they "used to be" and "could have been." I don't want my life to end with a list of what I "could have been." So, here I go - I'm officially a California Girl. Well not for real because ATL is where it's at, but I am goin' back to Cali. The take over has hit the road.

Speaking of my dreams . . .
For those of you who know me well, you know that I write songs in my sleep. Like literally I will dream an entire song, hear the full band arrangement, harmonies, crazy lyrics and everything. Then I will wake up and have about 2 minutes to try to record it into my phone before it leaves my mind forever. Those are the songs that come straight out of my spirit, and bypass my mind altogether. I have never recorded one of those spirit songs without moving someone that hears it to chills or tears. It is a God thing. So I have had two nights in a row of the most amazing music coming out of my dreams. I hope to get in and record them soon. I used to run from my gift, but a wise woman told me to stand still and face it and embrace it. Once you give your gift to the world, it is out of your hands but you can't make magic with a closed fist. True words.

*****************Girls Just Wanna
Ok, so every girl, no matter how successful, still wants someone in their life they can just . . . you know . . . BE with. You ever wanna just BE? So every successful woman has gone through this -- you work hard to become successful, and then the men around you are intimidated by you! I know it's not just me. Matter of fact, Aretha Franklin went through it and wrote a song about it. Check me out singing it:

Anyway, I'm not sweating it . . . I know my prince will come :-)

Thought for the Day:
I tend to say "You are unstoppable as long as you don't stop." What I mean is, "DO NOT try to stop me because if you do you will get RUN OVER!!" I am not somebody who woke up yesterday and decided I am cute and want to be a singer. This is my destiny, so don't mess with me . . . ya heard?!

That's a word from my Diamond Mind. Let me know what's on yours -->;
